PIONEER DAYS TO HONOR IRAQI WAR VETERANS IN PARADE ON SEPT.12TH

With the withdrawal of all U.S. combat troops in Iraq recently taking place, the Kalida Pioneer Days Committee decided what better time to honor our local Iraqi War veterans than right now. The Iraq War (also known as , the Second Gulf War and Operation Iraqi Freedom )was a military campaign that began on March 20,2003. The last combat brigade recently left Iraq on August 19,2010 , with approximately 50,000 U.S. troops still remaining in an assist and advise capacity.

The Pioneer Days Committee would like to invite ALL area veterans of this war to be honored in the Pioneer Days parade in Kalida on Sept.12th. The Iraqi veterans will lead the parade, following directly behind the Color Guards. We ask that all area Iraq veterans assemble at the Union Bank at 1pm on Sunday, Sept.12th , which is where the parade begins.

The Pioneer Days parade is one of the largest parades in Northwest and West Central Ohio. It will be held on Sunday, Sept. 12th and will start at 1:30 SHARP. Included in this year’s parade will be an M1 tank  and various other military equipment.

Pioneer Days, now in its 138th year, is jointly sponsored by the Kalida Lions and the Kalida Firefighters.
